Howl (sketch)
Howl sitting in front of a stained glass window.
I made a mistake and used that horrible paper again. Not intentionally, mind. I just sort of picked it up and started sketching and by the time I realized, it was in that sort of “too late” stage where something good was on the page and I had to grit my teeth and bear it. No more of this! I’m setting this paper aside for my niece to play with. u_u;
But, yes, because I was having trouble with the paper, I couldn’t get my own diamonds to work, so I borrowed some from cestnms. I’ll probably fix his right leg too when I lightbox this to finish it up.

Katt from Breath of Fire II (sketch)
Or Rinpoo, whichever you prefer! And a hand-drawn copy of the official logo. I tried to get it as close as I could (including the ‘A’ in ‘Breath’ looking more like an ‘R’ to me)… maybe I should have just cheated and found a copy of it online to paste in. >_>; So much work and I messed it up anyway. xD;
I have a confession. Well, two. I’ve never played BoFII. But I have a general affection for the BoF series and Katt in particular because the first time I was ever aware of the series was a bit of promotional artwork that featured her and I thought she was so cool. “My” BoF is IV, and I will eventually have fanart from that. My other confession is that this sketch was “started” probably like… five years ago. Probably longer. It was during a time I was doing a lot of really quick “mannikin” type sketches, but finishing almost nothing. I rescued it from a pile of unfinished stuff, cleaned it up, and finished it. I also had to erase my mannikin of Nina, since there wasn’t enough room on the page to do her justice.

Random Sketch Page (sketches)
Another random, recent page from my sketchbook. Let’s see what we have here…
Well, in the top corner in the box are some sushi. I was playing Youda Sushi Chef and was starting to make a “cheat sheet” for the recipes, when I realized how long it would take and went, “Meh. Okay, I won’t cheat.”
Then there’s some Pedobear and the Medicine Seller from Mononoke.
And, of course, we have mostly naked boys. Was looking at some studies that artist Jinx Star did and trying to learn from them. Nothing is a direct study of her studies, though. (I promise, to those worried, I’ll do studies from photographs rather than another artist. I was trying to learn “style” of depicting muscles on this page, that’s all.)
Plus, a totally derp hand and a snake making fun of the boy in the jeans. I didn’t draw him properly because I focused on his chest and then worked outward, so he has really wonky anatomy and I was tired and just didn’t try to fix anything. (Besides, it’s my sketchbook. I don’t really fix much in the sketchbook. I usually draw with a ballpoint pen to prevent myself from trying to “fix” things.)
PS: Now you know why I generally don’t scan from my sketchbook! I won’t post often from it - don’t worry. :B

Pony Time (sketch page)
A page from my sketchbook where I was learning the My Little Pony style. (And trying to do my own take on it, so I feel less like I’m “style biting”.)
As far as I know, these are all random ponies. I didn’t try to do direct fanart, because I wanted to watch more of the series before drawing fanart of characters from the show. I haven’t yet watched much of the show, but it was one of my favorite shows from the 1980s, so I’m already prepared to like it. xD

Medicine Seller (sketch)
A really messy sketch of the Medicine Seller from Mononoke throwing up paper charms to protect himself from whatever he’s investigating. I don’t think he’s very worried just yet, though.
The paper I used for this sketch is not very pencil-friendly. This is probably another lightbox candidate.I threw this into my convention binder (where I keep samples). He’s on the left. I put Sesshomaru (and Jaken) on the right. So it looks as if the Medicine Seller is staring directly at Sesshomaru’s face and Sesshomaru is staring at the paper charms. xD; Now I want to put sweat of distress next to Jaken’s face…

The Sword of Exorcism (Sketch)
A sort of “model sheet” of the Sword of Exorcism from the anime Mononoke that I drew at the bottom of some print-outs of the Medicine Seller’s model sheets in preparation for drawing the character.The margins of the rest of the papers are scrawled with other (not-worth-scanning) notes and doodles of the scales and paper charms and his sleeves and the colors of various things (plus adding the earring that was missing from his model sheet but present in screen shots).
Thank you to Fuck Yeah Mononoke for all the great references! (Note: Will contain violence and sexuality - including male-on-male stuff. So it’s generally NSFW.)

Sesshomaru & Jaken (Sketch)
Sketch still in the messy stages of Sesshomaru and his attendant, Jaken.
I started this one around this time last year, I think. Not many weeks either way, at least. But, as you can expect, Sesshomaru is… well… a right bastard to draw. There’s a balance of “pretty” and “strong” that you just have to keep for it to end up looking anything like him. I got frustrated and tucked it away and forgot where I hid it from myself for a good long time.
Found it tonight (er - the morning of the 18th) and tightened up the lines, added in some details, fixed his face, and added in Jaken.

Another Vocaloid sketch from the same evening as the Oliver sketch. :B
Sakura Miku is pretty well my favorite “Miku” variation. I want to do all four seasons. And I’m sure eventually a regular Miku or a Miku in one of her classic outfits. But first - the seasons.
Outfit design blended from about four or five different Sakura Miku designs I’ve seen, picking and choosing my favorite elements that made sense to put together into one design.

Sketch of Oliver and his American Goldfinch pet, James. Oliver and James are the mascots of the “Oliver” program for Vocaloid 3. Oliver is an “Engloid” - one of the few Vocaloid programs specifically intended to sing in English.
My first Vocaloid fanart! I’m really not sure yet why I’ve chosen Oliver (and James) as my first foray into it. You’d probably think I’d go for Miku or someone more popular and instantly recognizable. I have no idea. But I do plan for a lot more Vocaloid fanart. Will post another version of this sometime later. Really not in the mood to ink tonight and since I want to hand-color this and my printer is out of ink, there’s no rush for me to ink anyway. >_>
